There are many components that make up a saddle. The "foundation" or what is usually worked on first is called the tree. The tree is designed on a computer program then made on a machine, so that it is the same exact tree every time. When trees are man made, which is what is traditionally done, there can be error and the tree can be made many different way. One special feature of Tad Coffin Performance saddles is that the tree is not made out of wood. It is instead made out of a flexible, yet sturdy plastic material that is not as harsh on the horse's back. The tree is an essential part of what makes Tad Coffin saddles very different from other saddles. The tree's flexibility allows the horse to move much more freely and can make horses perform exceptionally well.
